The attorney I worked for in CT for 10 years died. In a damn car accident. I worked for Brad, and J. and D., at their law firm in New Haven, CT. While I learned from all three of them, Brad was really my mentor. He was also a good family friend, and we socialized for many years, even after Vin and I relocated to MA.
Brad was the smartest person I ever knew, even smarter than my husband, who is (was?) the second smartest person I ever knew. Brad was truly one of those people that knew something (and usually quite a bit) about everything. You could talk about about anything with him, as well as ask him anything and get an answer. When Kerri was little, and asked all kinds of questions, Brad always knew the answers, whether it be about chemistry, mathematical properties, or iguanas (Kerri was weird kid!). He also introduced us to reptiles as pets, which we had for many years.
I last saw Brad about a year and a half ago. He had moved to NC several years ago, and really liked it there, not missing the New England weather at all. We kept in touch, although not as much as I know wish we had. We both happened to be in CT at the same time, and my brother Greg arranged a dinner. It was great seeing him and hearing about his life and what he was doing. Before we parted, he gave me some private advice, as he had done for many years in his big-brother fashion.
Brad, you were a good friend, and you will be missed. RIP
