This was posted on one of the listservs I belong to. Ever wonder if Google has SEO’d (Search Engine Optimized) their site? Probably not, because if they had, it would look like this.

Network Support Specialist
As of July 2, I will be in a new position at Endicott College: Network Support Specialist. Basically, this is a lateral move from the web development area of IT to the network area of IT. I will still dabble in programming, be responsible for scripting, and will be learning lots and lots about networking. I’m terribly excited, as this is an area of IT I have wanted to be more involved in for quite some time. I’ve already done a bit of server management and database administration so far, and enjoy the work.
White Wave Designs will, of course, continue as before 🙂 It pays for the music lessons and my ever-expanding collection of instruments!
windows update KB930916 broke my browsers
I have no idea how or why it happened, and unfortunately I don’t have the time to research it now, but after I installed the latest Windows update KB930916, javascript didn’t work properly on either Firefox 2 or IE7.
At first, I thought something was wrong with the first website I went to, a project management site. It looked as if there was no stylesheet. Then I went to the New York Times, a morning ritual, and again, the site looked as if the stylesheet wasn’t attached. I use FF by default, so I figured the browser just wasn’t working properly, for whatever reason. However, the same problem existed in IE7. Then I realized that I was getting javascript errors on those websites in addition to no layout.
Earlier tonight, while telling Vin about it, he asked if I had installed any new software. No, no software. Updates? Yes! I had just installed Windows update KB930916 this morning. Sure enough, after an uninstall, everything’s back to working normally.
If anyone has any more information about this, let me know!
